The Northbridge project encompassed streetscape improvements for a three-square-block area of Chicago north of the Chicago River and west of Michigan Avenue. The developer of this area wanted to create the concept of a ‘District” that would include shopping and hotel space in five newly constructed or renovated buildings anchored by Nordstrom’s department store and connected to the Michigan Avenue corridor. McBride & Kelley collaborated with Wolf Clements & Associates to provide the streetscape design which included paving, planters, trees/tree grates, light poles, banners and other items. The street most affected by the project was Grand Avenue, which was narrowed to allow for planters and wider sidewalks.
